A FAILED CHARM.

A boy once went to a native doctor, popular called a ‘babalawo’, to make him to become rich. He explained the reason why he wants to become rich and one of the reasons is because life has dealt him real good.

The babalawo understood him clearly and swung into action. He mixed a concoction for him to use during his bath as soap and also during his meal; that it would bring money to him thereby making him rich.

The boy was excited that finally his dreams of becoming rich would come true. He collected the charm taking heed of what the babalawo said that would be the penalty for breaking the covenant he made; he would be mad.

Few weeks down the line, nothing was showing fort but he kept on performing the ritual hoping the magic will work out just as he expected. As weeks sluggishly went on to months nothing showed forth and with anger boiling in his blossom he went to confront the babalawo.

When he got there and explained what had happened, the babalawo laughed uncontrollably.

“Ah, agbami oh, baba, all you did was to laugh!!!” He said furiously “I am telling you that what you gave me did not work out as expected and you are here laughing!!! What the…”

“Dare say that word and you would speak no more. Idiot!” the babalawo said “are you okay? You think to become rich is just a day something? Don’t you know that you have to work to show yourself approved ni? Oleburuku oloshi”

He laughed again and continued “You are a mumu man! You don’t have anything doing and you want to become rich. Just like that! Nothing to show forth! Just to sit at home and expect my demons to bring money to you! Will you pay them for the transport fare? Waka there!”

“You would have told me that I should get something doing nà! And which one is transport fare for demons ya?” The boy asked.

“Is that not what you expect? You roam around the neighborhood doing nothing from morning to night” He replied “You don’t even think of what to do to help your life and you think that riches would come like that? You are truly lazy oh, even devil self go work before him go see something chop ahbi you wan claim senior devil ni? Lazy youth! Get out of here before I feed you to those demons you have made angry! Idiot! Onye guuf!”

THE BOY WHOSE DREAM CAME TRUE.

A boy had a dream and in that dream he saw himself a king over those close to him, including his parents. Out of excitement he told his family about that dream and also relatives. He was so happy of what he saw in his dream; how glorious he would become and how influential he would be.

His family, after they had heard him, criticized him of such saying that it can’t be; that what he was saying was just an illusion of what he had been thinking about. That he over ate the night before and for that cause, he had dreams of such. That he had listened to so many stories about kings and kingdoms, probably from their dad because their dad travelled a lot.

He was down casted and weary. The people he thought to have faith in and in turn have faith in him had made jest of him, mocked him and said he was crazy. Even his close friends deserted him: saying that he’s going crazy and would not want people to see that they are friends with a crazy fellow like him.

However, his joy was not cut off. Though they might not be seeing what he’s seeing and though they might not be listening to what is playing in his background, he never stopped half way. The dreams kept coming and in different dimensions. This made him too sure of what is to happen in the future.

Few weeks later, he went after his brothers who were taking care of their fathers flock. On getting to where they were, they seized him and an opportunity came for them to sell him off instead of killing him. Of which they did for an amount.

Deep down he was thinking ‘Is this the price I have to pay for this dream Lord?’ ‘What have I done wrong, Lord, to deserve this: I’ve been obedient to your word. Is this how I’ll be repaid?’ ‘God, are you somewhere looking at this being done to me?’

Just when he wanted to give up, he heard deep down in his spirit, some place where no man can temper, that ‘He is better than this and that Nothing can separate him from the Love of God: Not even his brothers act, words or mindset towards him. Not even his friends words or acts or mindset towards him can separate him from the Love of God’.

With this assurance he continued even when he was accused of raping his master’s wife. He was imprisoned, beaten and mocked beyond what he thought this could be. But he trusted the process of becoming what God has laid into his heart that he will become.

Days ran into years and then it happened. Everything he saw and was assured by the spirit began to fall into place. He’s a hardworking and smart fellow, so he is sensitive of the seasons and times. He knew when the time has come for him to become what he was destined to be.

Years later a great famine struck the earth and as it has been, God always showed him what’s to come because he was in constant fellowship with Him. He showed him what he needed to know to sustain those he governs over and also those who would come to him for aid.

He became a go-to man when it comes to solutions because he had passed through so many experiences that had trained him and inspired him to live right. Also, God’s Favour and Light was upon him.

Furthermore, his brothers came a certain time to his country unknowing to them that they will be caught up with fate. He recognized and even in pain showed kindness to them. They did not know and so thought to be guilty of nothing.

A day came when he unveiled himself to them and they were honestly guilty of what they had done. But, the boy who is now a man, married and governs a country never counted it as wrong because they played to the tone of God’s plan.

MORAL OF THE STORY.

When you have a dream be ready to go through the process that leads to the Glory of that dream. It will be painful. Rugged. Galloped. Teary. Keep at it you will see the light soon.

A lot of us thinks that someone just emerged a winner but the truth is; a seed takes time to germinate and afterwards grow and then bear fruit. A seed can never and will never turn into a fruit in a single day.

Joseph is a hardworking and a smart man. His ability of working to perfection earned him respects even in prison. Don’t relent because you have a dream: work towards it and don’t be idle. It will come to pass one way or the other.

Hardworking is a child to RESPONSIBILITY. Responsibility is your ability to respond to situations around you.

Always listen to your inner voice. It keeps you sane in an insane world. It reassures and reaffirms the promises of God and would strengthen you each time you are weak. Shut the door against the negative voices about you.

The HOLY SPIRIT still leads people today and I am humbled to be part of them. You too is also part of those who are lead, if you will yield.

When you are going through tough times, remain your consistent relationship with God. Those tough times were meant to distract you from remaining in the presence of God.

Distractions are every where and your ability to remain consistent will birth results.

Be sensitive. The tough and roughly times are distractions that are meant to keep you away from recognising what’s in store for you in God’s Kingdom.

Will conclude with the words of St Paul to the Philippians in verse fourteen of chapter three; I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

BEAUTY IS IN THE EYES OF THE BEHOLDER – A TATTOOED LADY WHO SAVED AN EVIL CHILD.

A certain woman travelled to a far away village in Africa to have an experience of what life feels like in that space. She got to that place and loved the landscape. Though the surrounding looks impoverished of infrastructures and social amenities, she enjoyed her stay.

A certain day during her weekly routine strolling she saw a supposed ‘evil’ child whom the village had left to die. He was impoverished. He looks like a skeleton: his bones are seen clothed with thin skin. His belly big and legs very thin. You can imagine!

Immediately she saw this ‘evil’ child, she was engulfed with compassion. Her eyes rained tears. Never has she seen such a ‘cute’ child left to die for some traditional jamboree. This was made known to her by her travel guide who almost scolded her for going close to this child. She approached the boy and gave him water to drink from the water bottle she brought along with her for the walk. The boy drank up and was satisfied. She took him into her custody to take care of him.

Few days later, she went back to her country with the boy. First, took him to the hospital to run an all round check up to see if he was infected while left to die. Hopefully, none was detected but the doctor prescribed supplements to help regain the state of being and also boost the immune system.

This kind hearted woman took care of the boy and made sure he had everything he desired. He was enrolled into school to begin life with.

Few years later, the malnourished ‘ugly’ looking ‘evil’ boy is now looking healthy, happy and full of life. You would never believe if he was ever that deserted and malnourished. You won’t! You would doubt!

This is to show you how what you can say is that bad and evil can be good and beautiful in another person’s view. Beauty is truly in the eyes of the beholder.

DO NO MISS THIS: A TRUE EVENT OF A BARROW PUSHER WHO BECAME A MILLIONAIRE.

THE BARROW PUSHER WHO BECAME A MILLIONAIRE – A TRUE EVENT.

Due to reasons known to him and evident to the economical downsizing trespassing in the country he became a barrow pusher in one of the states in Nigeria, Enugu State. This happened in the year 2017.

An opportunity came to be a millionaire through a promotional offer organised by one of the leading seasoning company in Nigeria, ONGA, and he grabbed the opportunity immediately. This happened in the year 2020.

While pushing barrow in the market, assisting people in carrying their loads he picked sachets of ONGA and when it had gotten to fifty sachets, he would go to the redemption center to submit for his reward. The first submit earned him a reward of Airtime which i supposed triggered his happiness of continuation.

Favour’s ray shone upon him when he tried out the second time submitting another batch of fifty sachets of ONGA seasoning which earned him a reward of one million naira.

What a happy man he became!

During his interview he said something that stunned me. That sentence showed the degree of awareness his preparation had gotten him to. This also means that he was pushing the barrow as a means to an end. Such wisdom!

He said “I implore the company to supply me ONGA products from the one million naira so that i can use it to start up business”

Such an awareness! Such a preparative soul!

He was READY!

He was PREPARED!

He had a PLAN!

What if out of shame he decided not to push the barrow and went into cyber crime or perhaps went into any crime of any sort?

What if out of shame he did not pick up those sachets from wherever he picked it and would probably cast it away saying that it is not worth it.

What if he never took the chance in trying out such thing.

What I learnt from this young man experience was that HE ALREADY HAD A PLAN TO WORK ON but due to circumstances and reasons best known to himself, he had to first try out opportunities that are stacked up around him in various way so that he will use it to get his dream achieved.

BEAUTY IS IN THE EYES OF THE BEHOLDER: THE BAD LUCK MAN.

Mr John has been a very lonely man from the beginning of his life. Literally, he doesn’t get along with people because he doesn’t know how to begin and end conversations. He is an introvert.

Life taught him a lot of lessons and one of them is being a drop out of school with the reason being that his parents died in an accident while he was just four. His uncle who took him in was not that stable with his business having that he is a drunkard and womanizer.

Things began to fall apart when his aunty accused John of manhandling her children and also stealing from her because he stays with her in the shop. He ran away at age twelve to fend for himself since everyone saw him as one evil bad luck that happened to humanity. First, his parents and now his uncle’s wife, who will be next? Everyone feared.

In this land foreign to him, he decided to push barrow. At least that could help him keep body and soul together. He began and used it to push himself through highschool but wasn’t able to write the West African Examination (WAE) because he didn’t pay for the exam. He found it hard to talk and so he kept to himself for fear of being misunderstood and insulted. His life went from one bad luck to another and he decided to manage it that way since no body wanted him around.

On a good sunny day he helped a beautiful, tall and figurative lady to wheel barrow her things to the motor park. Unfortunately for him, the tyre was flattened by a sharp object and almost the luggage fell into a pothole of dirty water. The Lady was raged. She almost slapped him but he dodged and was pleading like his life depended on it. His life actually depended on it because she might be anybody who could arrest him – so he thought. He has been arrested on numerous occasions for things he knew nothing about. Because he was tired of pleading innocence for his life, he gave up on wanting people to know the truth. He would just relax and be in the cell until the police were tired of him. Hopefully, he wasn’t taken to a prison.

The lady forgave him and called on another barrow pusher to park the luggage. Mr john helped with it and still followed her begging not to be angry. He went ahead and paid for the job done by another to show how pained he was too. He had to wait also for the Lady to board the bus and it had to depart before he could leave there. He valued relationship though almost nobody wanted a relationship with him as a friend, talk more of another level of friendship.

The lady went home and reflected on the event and wondered what manner of personality Mr john was. She is a therapist, so she knows the feeling of someone who was being pushed about by life. She was human too.

The Lady, Neche by name, went back to that market looking for John because she could not concentrate on anything each time the thought came to her. Normally, these barrow pushers would retaliate at any given circumstances of rightful intimidation but this one, she felt , was different; and this made her more curious to know him and perhaps help him out in any possible way she could.

Neche, after weeks of searching, finally found him eating at a kiosk: bread and water – a meal for the day. She approached him and immediately, he jerked off the floor and started pleading again – he thought that she had come back for revenge of some sort. She comforted and relaxed him; took him out to a better restaurant where he had a sumptuous meal.

However, she tried all she could to get him into a conversation but he was too beaten by situations to let his guard down on that. He vowed not to talk to people except they talk to him first – this way, he could abort any mission of failed conversation before hand. This was how bad situations had shaped him.

Neche, a kind heart, hosted him everyday for two weeks trying all possible ways to make him break his silence. Being a therapist, she had encountered a lot of patients similar to his and understood the trauma all along. The third week was favourable as he was the one that began the conversation. Neche was happy. So happy that she hugged and kissed him. And immediately his countenance changed. It was as if cold water was poured down his spine. She acted on her emotions because as the weeks passed by together, they became fond of each other.

Weeks later, people began noticing dramatic change in John’s life. He became very bright. Happy. Full of life. Easily starting up conversations with people. People came closer to him for how jovial he had become and for how full of life he has achieved. The rest, they say, is history.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Neche saw him as a potential good and dream achieving man while others saw him as a bad luck to humanity.

THE STORY OF TWO CANDLE.

Two candle lived afar from each other. Both burning in their respective seasons and field.

A day came when the spectators of candle A started leaving for candle B.

Candle A kept shining but it got to a point where the progress of candle B distracted it and so, it’s flame started to die off gradually.

(This is where you give into comparison and instead of focusing on your path, you are worried about someone else’s path.)

When candle A looked over to the camp of candle B to see how it is showcasing it’s flame it saw that candle B kept on increasing while it’s flame decreases.

(This is where you start to devalue yourself and then give into envy what you already have.)

One day, it approached the other and asked what is the secret having being that they do the same work but it seems to be the one to outshine.

However, Candle B replied “I am just being a candle that helps people see through my light. I don’t bother if they appreciate me or not. I just want them to see. In essence, I mind my business.”

Surprised at what the candle said, candle A went back and did exactly what Candle B advised and since then, it’s influence has kept on increasing.

Are you worried about what’s happening in someone else’s camp? Though you may be doing the same work and it seems that you are not doing it better.

Well, at that point is when you need to consider going on with what you are doing your own way. With your vision and mission in check.

A candle that flames in the desert is the same candle that flames in the town: all made with almost the same substance and doing their various craft in places where they seem to have found themselves in.

Avoid the voice that says ‘look at him or her is progressing and you are not’. Perish that voice and do your part on the path you were sent on.

When it seems that what you are doing is not yielding results the way others aren’t yielding results, don’t worry. Cross check, Recheck and Reengage.

And mind you, the result others are getting must not be the same with yours or yours the same with theirs. You have a capacity that you are meant to work in and you can’t do more than that. If you do, you will break down.

This is not me placing limitations on you or you placing limitations on yourself. This is facts. There are something’s that others do that you will not be able to do. The day you do it, you breakdown. I’ve witnessed and experienced this.

This is why we learnt division of labour and specialization in economics. People can serve as your source of inspirations but you can’t be exactly like them because you don’t know what they really did to achieve what they achieved. What you saw or was being told is just an introduction to calculus.

(The introductory part of calculus will make you love that aspect of maths. But get into it my dear, you will have to barb your hair. Even as a lady.)

THE STORY OF A MAN AND HIS MASTER.

A certain man was owing his master some huge amount of money.

His master, a business mogul, has a lot of properties and estates tagged to his name. He is wealthy.

One day, while going through his credit records, he took notice of a man whom he did business with and for some years now hasn’t paid the remaining balance. Immediately, he dialed the Man’s number to call him to order.

He is influential and to that cause, the man zoomed off in response to the call.

Meanwhile, this man who is in debt is having a hard time. His business is taking a nose dive and he’s almost frustrated with the bills piling up by day.

On getting to the house of the master, he fell on the floor begging, narrated his current ordeal and pleaded for more time to pay up.

“Sir, in the name of the Lord, I beg you. I know I’ve wronged you in this way, please find it in your heart to grant me a chance to pay later. I am currently facing a hard time in my life; how I wish this is a dream, maybe the worst nightmare I could come off immediately. My wife is pregnant, my son’s school fee I have not paide, my mother is ill, my business is dying; I am dying. Sir, please, give me some time, I promise to pay you back with an interest.”

He said this crying with his face on the floor, ashamed of looking at his master.

The master was enveloped with compassion and mercy that he almost shed tears. He has been through this kind of storm and knew exactly what it means to pass through at such a time. He resolved to cancel the debt and he informed the man.

“I’m sincerely sorry for all you are going through. Be strong and you will see yourself come out stronger. I forgive you the debt. Henceforth you are a free man.”

He was so happy. It was as if a burden weighing a tonne was lifted off his shoulder.

On his way home, he met someone who has been owing him quite a few sum of money. About 1/10 of the debt he was recently freed from.

He approached the debtor and began to harass him for owing for so long. That he cannot be owing him for so long while he suffers.

“…pay me now or be arrested…” he said to him.

Immediately, he fell on his knees begging for some time. That he’s also going through a storm.

Well, all his pleading fell on deaf ears. He got him arrested and was jailed.

However, the news circulated the town and the master who forgave him of his dept heard it and was raged. He called him to order and asked why he could do such even after forgiving him such a huge dept.

“I thought you are a better man. That you would go ahead and teach others what I thought you by my simple act. How much is he owing you that you could not forgive him of. Is it that more than the one I forgave you off…”

Before he could reply, the man made a sign to his servants to have him put where he will suffer the pain of lack of forgiveness.

There, the pangs of lack of forgiveness clinched to his soul and in regret, he counted his sorrows.

“…Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us…”

If you don’t forgive, you will not be forgiven.

Compassion is an act you need to grow in. Without it, you can not feel what others are going through.

WHAT IF THE GREAT ARCHITECTS, DOCTORS, PSYCHOLOGIST, PASTORS/PRIESTS, AND ENTREPRENEURS WERE AFTER THE MONEY INSTEAD OF THE VALUE THEY WERE DESTINED TO GIVE.

Think about this.

THE STORY OF A BOY AND HIS FRIEND.

A boy’s friend was being beaten by two persons. On getting to the scene he rushed to help his friends but he shouted ‘Don’t help me. I can beat them alone.’ This, he did to prove to those around that he is a ‘man.’

For respect sake towards his friend, he obeyed his wish and watched him being beaten.

Finally, he agrees that he should come help him and immediately the boy jumped in and saved his friend.

This is how it is when WE claim to do things on our own without the help of the HOLY SPIRIT.

Anytime we engage in an Endeavour and we don’t invite God’s Helps through His Spirit and Grace, we struggle at it.

This is why the book of Sirach admonished that we say that ‘By God’s Grace’ we will achieve our aim.

Also, the book of proverbs pointed out that we make our plans but God directs them.

In the same vein, St Paul says that ‘The Spirit comes to help us in our Weakness.’ Also, ‘We can do all things through Christ that strengthens us.’

This proves that when we acknowledge the efficacy of God’s Spirit in our Life, we become victorious in Life.

Remember, It is ‘Not by Power, Not by Might but by THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD GOD.’

Wishing Us A Happy Sunday.

Cheers!

Paid my dues!

We’ve been through hell.
Literary, through the devil’s court.
I saw him, dining with his chiefs.
I saw them playing orchestras.
I saw them dancing. we saw them singing.

But, what do I care. I move swiftly through his courts.
No shiver. Not a single quake. we did not quiver.

Because, I know, that He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the Shadow of the Almighty.

For Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.

For I care no darn what he plans on the other side. As long as I Have no deal with him, the devil, I got no bills to pay.

Jesus Christ, paid my dues. He paid it all!
